Champ Produce, Inc. considers food safety to be a top priority. We put the safety of our berry consumers at the top of our list. Champ continues to build on food safety standards and to implement the most up-to-date information and systems possible.
One of the ways we are able to provide the quality berry products to our consumers is how fast we take the berry from the field to the retail market.
Champ berries are:
- Hand-picked in the field and put into a clamshell container
- Delivered to the cooler for cool-down every afternoon
- The pallets are then tagged with an identifying label, inspected for quality and then placed into refrigeration tunnels for optimal storage
- 45 minutes to 2 hours later the berries have been brought from field temperature to approximately 33 degrees.
- The fruit is wrapped on the pallet to ensure quality and freshness upon arrival at the store
